About Ian Beech

Ian has undertaken assignments for McCann-Erickson, Golley Slater, Borkowski, Photoshot and various other public relations firms, for local government, major companies, professional bodies, schools, colleges, housing associations, charities, churches, health centres, arts organisations, carnival clubs, sports clubs, leagues & organisations, retailers, tourist information services, town centre companies, hotels, etc.

Magazine credits include such diverse titles as Somerset Life, The Stage, The Grocer, Sneak, Rugby Times, Rugby World, the RFU’s Touchline Magazine, Speedway Star and The Marshwood Vale Magazine.

Ian enjoys wedding and portrait photography assignments, alongside his press & public relations work. With careful attention to detail and the ability quickly to establish a rapport with models and clients, putting them at ease, Ian is able to produce distinctively intimate portraits and wedding photographs.

Now shooting exclusively with digital cameras, Ian enjoys working to challenging briefs to produce high quality images for websites, annual reports, brochures, leaflets, newspapers, magazines, text books, etc. He particularly enjoys capturing the spontaneity of events, whether in his sports action photography, his wedding photography or in his news photojournalism.

Ian was awarded his Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society in Applied and Professional Photography in 2004. Working towards his Royal Photographic Society award, Ian developed a strong commitment to monochrome photography, becoming increasingly fascinated by the art of black and white and learning to print high quality archival images to exhibition standard. For his award he prepared impressive portfolios of portraiture, life study and theatrical images. His work has appeared in various successful exhibitions in the West of England and in three books of monochrome images of the West Country, compiled with fellow South West photographers.
